Quebec, Canada
We were also invited to represent Canada during the
World Folklore Festival in Drummondville, Quebec, with 27 countries
participating. From the ecumenical church service, parades, banquets,
Montreal tour, nightly discos on site to the opening and closing ceremonies
at Marcel Dionne, this festival proved to be an exciting two weeks for
all participants. Our guides & interpreters, Lisette & Chantelle
were absolutely fantastic, making sure we were on time for shows &
other functions. The Scumalash Family Band as well as members of the
Cape Breton Pipes & Drums of the Canada Winter Games complimented
the dancers and were a crowd favorite during the parades. When Pipe
Major Courtney MacPherson stopped in front of the dignitaries platform
during the parade & played a French tune, the crowd broke into applause
of gratitude. Then only casualty of the festival was when Susan Campbell
broke her foot while dancing impromptu during a party held in our honor!!
